May 2018 update

The new veranda has been installed.

Museum Reopened

The Museum reopened Easter 2018.
New displays have been built and the artifacts returned from storage.

The new entrance porch is now completed.

It’s been good to see those who have been  able to join us for the two “catch-up” Sundays [11th June and 9th July].  Everyone seems impressed with the building work if disappointed in the Museum being closed for so long.

The latest news is that the construction work is complete and the plasterers are nearing completion.
The decorators will be back at the end of the month followed closely by the electrician for the second fit.

The plans for the new room settings and displays are now being drawn up. There two items we would  like:

Sheep Hurdle .. wooden
Cart Wheel

New roof is now in place

Work is now underway to replace the roof.

It has been a mammoth task and taken 7 weeks, but thanks to staff and friends the museum artifacts have now been packed and safely transported to purchased secure storage.

The Curator has taken over the tearoom as a temporary office housing the photographic collection and genealogy archive which will mean that research and acquisitions can continue during the months of closure.

Scaffolding is due to be erected in the next few weeks and it is hoped the work can commence soon after.
